Step 1: Rinse and SoakBegin by rinsing the affected wine glass under warm running water. This removes any loose wine residue and prepares the surface. Then, fill a basin or sink with warm, soapy water. Immerse the wine glasses in the soapy water and let them soak for several minutes. This soaking action helps loosen the lipstick pigments, making them easier to remove in subsequent steps.
Step 2: Elbow Grease Time! After soaking, it's time for some gentle scrubbing. Take a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Gently scrub the remaining lipstick marks using firm, yet controlled, pressure. Avoid excessive force, as this could damage the delicate glass. The slight abrasiveness of the cloth or sponge, combined with the loosened pigments from the soaking process, should effectively lift the lipstick stains.
Step 3: Baking Soda MagicFor those particularly stubborn lipstick stains that refuse to budge after the initial scrubbing, baking soda can be a lifesaver. Create a paste by mixing baking soda with a small amount of water until it forms a thick consistency. Apply this paste directly to the lipstick marks. Allow the baking soda paste to sit on the stains for a few minutes. The gentle abrasive properties of the baking soda will work to further lift the stains, requiring a bit more careful scrubbing for optimal results.
Step 4: Rinse and DryOnce you've successfully removed all traces of lipstick from the wine glasses, give them a final, thorough rinse under warm running water. Ensure all soap and baking soda residue is completely removed. To dry the glasses, use a soft, lint-free cloth. This will prevent water spots and streaks, leaving your wine glasses with a sparkling, pristine finish, ready for your next occasion.
