LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery used to correct vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It involves using a laser to reshape the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, thereby altering how light focuses on the retina, improving visual acuity and reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses.

• Pre-operative Evaluation: This is crucial to determine candidacy. It includes a comprehensive eye exam, measuring corneal thickness, assessing the shape of your cornea, and determining the refractive error (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism). A flap is created, the cornea is reshaped with a laser, and the flap is replaced to heal naturally. The entire procedure typically takes only about 15-20 minutes per eye. However, the pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care are equally important components of the process.
